Homelessness: A Day in the Life

Have you ever wondered what a homeless man does each day?

While each man is different, the struggle remains the same. A recent article by Oregon Public Broadcasting’s Amanda Peacher gave an inside look into a day in the life of one homeless man – Dirk Benson. Dirk lost his job and has been homeless for more than a year.

In the article, Dirk’s day starts at 5:30 am, when he leaves the abandoned house where he sleeps to get a good spot in line for a shower. Click here to read more about Dirk’s day, how he obtains food and manages to survive on a daily basis.

It is men like Dirk that Coalition for the Homeless is trying to help with a new Men’s Service Center. We want to provide men with case management and other supportive services to help them live a life of self-sufficiency.
