Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Day

Today is Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Day in the City of Orlando, as declared by Mayor Buddy Dyer!

As a result, downtown Orlando has been “painted” purple – the hunger and homelessness awareness color.

While driving to work this morning, you may have noticed Coalition for the Homeless friends lining the streets of the City Beautiful dressed in purple and armed with cardboard signs to promote the day.

You’ll also notice that the Lake Eola fountain has been turned purple this week.

In addition to educating the Central Florida community about the realities of homelessness, the Coalition wants you to get involved in service activities that relate to hunger and homelessness.

In fact, we challenge you to #serve100ways this month. Follow us on Twitter and friend us on Facebook to find out more.
