15th Annual Golf Challenge a Success!

On Friday, May 20th, 24 golfers braved the heat and played for all they were worth at the Doug Spencer 15th Annual Golf Challenge, raising over $70,000 to benefit the Coalition.   The event took place at Falcon’s Fire Golf Club in Kissimmee.  Not one’s usual tournament, golfers challenged each other for the most holes played in five hours and the most money collected for the Coalition.  They raised a minimum of $1,500 each, with their donors pledging either a flat amount or on a per-hole basis.

Again this year, top fundraiser was event namesake Doug Spencer, President of Spencer Consulting Services and Coalition for the Homeless Board member, who single-handedly raised $12,670 for his 93-hole afternoon.  Other major fundraisers included Scott Stahley, Lincoln Property Company of Florida, Inc. Sr. Vice President/Partner; John Martin, SI Goldman Company President/CEO; Don Worden, Kuykendall Gardner Vice President; realtor Amy Moline P.A., the day’s only female golfer; and Mike Schiappa and Neil Peraza of Hilton Grand Vacations.  Sciappa and Peraza also topped the charts as to number of holes played – at 126 each.  Event Honorary Chair, PGA Class-A Professional Brad Brewer and PGA Pro Mike Keymont contributed to the cause with their 50-hole afternoon.

A special addition this year, Orlando Magic Ambassadors Nick Anderson and Bo Outlaw and WKMG Local 6 Sports Director, David “Ping” Pingalore played all day alongside the other golfers to help support the Coalition.

We are grateful to Golf Challenge Corporate Sponsor Hilton Grand Vacations, meal sponsor Spencer Consulting Services, and beverage cart sponsor Tews Company as well as the golfers, supporters, prize donors and hole sponsors.  Theirs is a “hole in one” commitment to helping us provide homeless men, women and families with children a hand up to self-sufficiency.
