Coalition holiday gift-giving tradition

The holidays are just around the corner; and Coalition for the Homeless is already receiving requests from the community to “adopt” our homeless residents for our longstanding gift-giving tradition.

Even the most basic items are treasures when you are living in a shelter, so we’ve made a wish list of the most-asked-for items from adults and families living at the Coalition.

To meet the needs of our clients; spread the joy equitably among the adults, teens and tykes who live here; and be able to mix and match items, if needed, to serve our changing clientele, there’s a new twist to our holiday gift-giving tradition this year!

We’re requesting that our wonderful gift-givers select from among the wish list of items when buying gifts for our residents this holiday season. You’ll help more than you can imagine!

If you would like to help make the holidays special for the men, women and families with children who call the Coalition home, we’ve got a sign-up form for you on our website.

Please complete and submit the web-based form by November 2, 2010.

Then, bring your unwrapped gifts to the Coalition’s Women’s Residential and Counseling Center (WRCC) by Monday, December 6, 2010. WRCC is located at 107 E. Hillcrest St., Orlando 32801 (corner of Magnolia St.)

Lastly, we invite our gift-givers to join us at 10 am on December 23, 2010* as we distribute the gifts and celebrate the holiday season at our main campus, 639 West Central Blvd., Orlando 32801. (Please RSVP by December 17, 2010 to marty.vevera@cflhomeless.org or bobbie.brinkerhoff@cflhomeless.org)

*Please note date change to Dec 23.
